Description

I am working exclusively with my Bedfordshire-based client, a leading designer and manufacturer of specialist power electronic systems and equipment serving a global client base across a range of industries, to find an experienced hands-on Embedded Firmware Engineer to compliment their in-house Engineering Team.

This contract assignment will be focused on a project to develop and write the code for a Battery Management System (BMS) of a next generation lithium-ion battery which has been developed by one of their sister companies.

In order to speed up the development they require an experienced senior embedded hands-on firmware engineer to work on their own within this project with minimal support and should be available to test the firmware in the company's test facility in Bedfordshire. It is anticipated that you will be required to be on site for approximately 50% of the duration of the assignment as required by the progress of the project, with the rest able to be done remotely or on site if you would prefer.

This is an exciting time to be joining them as they are continuing to expand their product ranges, including into new markets, and the ongoing development of the next generation of products means that your ideas will turn into a reality.

Applicants should have the following experience:

  • Previously worked with ARM Cortex M7, ATSAM microcontrollers using both MPLAB and Atmel studio IDE.
  • Bare metal and real-time operating system experience (FreeRTOS).
  • Ability to read and understand schematics.
  • Must have work on CAN, USB, ETHERNET, SPI, I2C, SD CARD, USART, ADC, DAC, (QVGA, VGA) TFT Displays, etc peripherals.
  • Programming the flash, knowledge of SRAM interfaces, QSPI interface, etc
  • Must know about developing bootloader for ATSAM microcontrollers.

Applications are invited from experienced Embedded Software, Firmware and Systems Engineers. Candidates with prior experience of working with Li-Ion systems and/or BMS development are very desirable.

In return they are willing to pay an attractive hourly rate for the right candidate which will be negotiable based on experience. Initially offered for 12 months, there is the possibility that this contract assignment could be extended.

This assignment is considered to be outside of IR35 but applicants will need to satisfy themselves that this is the case.

More information available upon application - please include your rate requirements and availability.
