- Description
I am working exclusively with my Bedfordshire-based client, a leading manufacturer of electro-mechanical products serving a range of process-related industries, to find a Workshop Assistant to join their in-house Engineering Team.
Based at their site in Stewartby, you will work across all areas of their business including fitting and all general duties within the workshop as required, including operating the Forklift.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Cutting and drilling of carbon steel and stainless steel in preparation for welding.
- General assistance to fabrication engineers in preparation/build-up of fabrications.
- Mechanical build-up of pipe line gas trains for our burner systems - mostly this involves mechanical work bolting of flanges, fitting of pipes etc.
- Assistance in cleaning of pipe work and lining of combustion chambers.
- Threading of pipes using pipe threading machine.
- Responsibility for ensuring goods in are checked and packed away into storage areas and that all items that are common usage have stock levels maintained.
- Local trips out to collect items from suppliers as required in the Kempston, Bedford areas.
- Some site work assisting in installation work.
- General workshop assistance.
Any other duties which may arise.

- Adaptability to changing work priorities.
- Eye for detail and quality work.
- Confident team player able to work alone and within existing close-knit team.
- Willingness to learn and share knowledge / experience with colleagues.
- Willingness to get involved and add 'value' to the team.
- Full driving licence & forklift licence are both desirable
In return they are willing to pay an attractive salary for a standard working week Mon-Fri 8-4 (some flexibility available), can provide in-house training, and potential for career development in the future. They also have free carparking on site.
