We are a world class equipment manufacturer with a significant international presence. Our machinery, products and services deliver both stand-alone and fully-integrated technological solutions to customers across a diverse range of industries. We are actively looking to recruit a Group Category Manager to head up the Consumables & Aftermarket Services Category within our Global Sourcing Team. This is an exciting time to join the business as we are continuing to expand the services and products across our ranges through our commitment to innovation, developing new technologies and New Product Introduction (NPD & NPI). You will be working with R&D, product management, new product introduction and operations teams across a number of manufacturing sites globally to ensure a fully capable and stable chain of supply partners.

Based at our Cambridgeshire headquarters, you will deliver Strategic Sourcing Category Management for our Consumables & Aftermarket Services by providing professional sourcing, negotiation, and contract implementation. This is business critical as it represents the greatest financial income from our customers across the lifespan of a product through aftermarket service agreements and the consumables used. You will be responsible for developing and driving sourcing improvements within the company's supply chain and distribution networks.

Initially you will need to understand the current business situation on a global scale - distribution set-ups vary between regions and countries - by gathering and analysing data in order to identify the most attractive prospects to pursue. Sourcing activities will include negotiating existing arrangements and contracts with current partners, identifying and evaluating potential new suppliers, as well as assessing the business case for potential acquisition of any companies. The post holder will be required to ensure exceptional quality of service is provided by partners in our supply chain whilst simultaneously delivering high value and significant year on year cost reductions.

Applications are invited from Group Category Managers, Buyers, Purchasers, Supply Chain, Sourcing and Procurement Practitioners who have a proven track record of developing and maintaining professional working relationships with both external partners and internal stakeholders in the UK and around the world.

Those who have previously worked within an engineering, manufacturing and/or aftermarket support environments (servicing / consumables / upgrades) i.e. automotive, FMCG, OEM, or similar are desirable but this is not essential. Candidates must be motivated to set their own targets and exceed KPI requirements (individual and team) and display an entrepreneurial approach by suggesting improvements to streamline processes after conducting their own analysis. Candidates will ideally hold or be working towards CIPS qualification.

Candidates must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, and be confident liaising with stakeholders across all levels of the business. You also need to have a high level of numeracy in order to be comfortable making precise mathematical calculations to support negotiations, be confident working with data, and have an eye for detail when reviewing contracts, Terms and Conditions.

This role will be predominantly office-based but will involve some domestic and European travel to visit suppliers and distributers, so a driving licence and passport are essential. There will also be excellent career progression opportunities associated with this role, together with a very competitive salary and excellent package including company car.

Apply now to be considered immediately by a business renowned for its continued investment into research and development and dedication to diversifying its product offerings through NPD and NPI.

When applying for this role, please indicate your current salary (plus benefits package), minimum salary required, notice period and your reasons for wishing to move from your current company. Alliance Consulting is acting as an employment agency in this respect. Alliance Consulting specialise in the placement of engineers throughout the UK. By sending us your CV you are explicitly consenting to our processing of your personal data on a computer database and/or in manual files for the purpose of evaluating your application for employment.
