- Description
I am working exclusively with my Bedfordshire-based client, a leading manufacturer of electro-mechanical products serving a range of process-related industries, to find a Lead or Senior Electrically-biased Project Design Engineer with full project lifecycle experience to join their in-house Engineering Team.
The successful candidate will play an instrumental role within the business, with responsibility for supporting the Engineering Team to complete projects to specification. You will work closely with the existing Lead Electrical & Mechanical Project Engineer to ensure the team delivers the multiple projects which are running simultaneously / concurrently, many of which are typically valued from £40k - £250k, with timescales usually 2-4 months lead time.
In return they are willing to pay an attractive salary for the right candidate but this can be negotiable based on experience, together with a clear career progression pathway towards replacing the retiring Lead Electrical & Mechanical Project Engineer.
This is a very varied role with many attractive features including:
- Involved throughout the entire lifecycle of projects, from initial enquiry and design work, through the tendering process, requisition of materials and fabrication, to installation, commissioning. The company also delivers ongoing servicing and any required modifications or upgrades to their products
- Your time will be split between working in the office and attending sites to meet with clients and assist with installation & commissioning when required.
- Preparing procurement lists and raising purchase orders.
- Preparing risk assessments and method statements to support site activities
The electrical design of most projects will involve designing of control panels, with majority of controls being relay logic with a small amount of PLCs. The piping design and mechanical features are not very complex. Previous experience of working in sectors such as energy from waste (EFW), sewage & water treatment, oil & gas, food production, FMCG, and/or OEM or Special Purpose Equipment would be beneficial.
We invite applications from Lead and Senior Project Engineers, Design Engineers, and Project Managers with the following attributes:
- Proven experience and success in electrical design and basic mechanical design using AutoCAD or similar software.
- Control panel design experience
- Ideally experience of piping design (not essential)
- Computer literate: conversant in software packages such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and AutoCAD.
- Ability to produce general arrangement drawings and electrical schematics including P&IDs
- 17th / 18th Wiring Regulations and CompEx training would be an advantage but are not essential, as training can be provided.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for this role. Equally as important are the abilities to work well alone and as part of a tight-knit team.
This role will involve frequent domestic and occasional overseas travel so a driving licence and passport are highly desirable. There will be a degree of work flexibility required (both in the office and on-site visits).
More information is available upon application.
