- Description
I am working exclusively with my Bedfordshire-based client, a leading manufacturer of electro-mechanical products serving a range of process-related industries, to find an experienced Field Service Engineer to join their in-house Engineering Team.
The majority of your time will be spent attending customer sites across the UK for servicing, installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of all systems. (Full internal training and guidance will be provided as required.) Some overnight stays will be required with overnight allowance paid.
On the days you are not out on sites you will be based in the workshop in Stewartby supporting the site-based design and manufacturing teams with a variety of tasks including:
- Fault diagnosis and repair, raising requisitions for failed components.
- Complete service, commissioning and other relevant reports.
- Workshop assistance for line build-up, control panel build and field wiring
- Control Panels - to include (with supplied project drawings):
- Mechanical Layout of backplates (to include drilling and tapping, fixing and labelling of all components);
- Mechanical Layout of Control Panel Doors (to include all drilling, fixing and labelling of components;
- Electrical Wiring of Control Panels using supplied Schematics (to include wiring loom to door and all finishing/internal labelling);
- Ensure change control on any supplied drawings (i.e. mark all corrections accurately on 'For Construction' drawings).
- Junction Boxes - pre-wire/cable and install all parts and cabling subject to job requirements.
- Traywork - to complete the project cable tray route as per the drawings supplied to your own initiative.
- Field Wiring - to complete the field wiring from the control panel to all equipment utilising armoured cable and armoured glands.
- Testing - in collaboration with the project engineer, assist with testing and inspection at the end of projects.
- Project Completion - to include the finishing touches including cable marking and safety labelling then dismantling in an organised manner.
The electrical elements of most projects will involve control panels, with majority of controls being relay logic with a small amount of PLCs. The piping design and mechanical features are not very complex.
We invite applications from Field Service Engineers, as well as Electrical Fitters and Panel Wireman who are keen to be involved in regular site-based work in the future.
As you will be covering the UK, with the potential for occasional trips abroad, you will need to hold a full driving licence and passport, and be comfortable with a significant amount of travel on these days.
More information is available upon application.
